PIERRE — The Huron Tigers didn’t have competitors in every event, but the ones that did saw strong finishes and several event wins Tuesday, at the Capitol City Qualifier, held at Hollister Field.

No team points were kept in the meet that featured teams from all three classes.

For Huron’s girls’ team, the 4x200-meter dash team of Zanizyah Lanier, Adison Moore, Emily Dale and Heavan Gainey, got the baton around quickest, finishing in a time of 1:48.36. Likewise, the Tiger girls’ 4x100 team (Brynn Gose, Lanier, Moore and Gainey) broke the tape in a time of 51.84, and Huron’s medley relay team of Lanier, Dale, Moore and Reese Rozell triumphed in a time of 4:45.36.

The Tiger boys’ ran well too, as the 4x200 relay team of Quinston Luellman, CH Gainey, Cody Marshall and Max Kranzler passed the stick in 1:35.38 to win the event. The 4x100 relay team of Eh Taw Boe, Moses Gross, Marshall and Luellman also earned a top finish in a time of 45.41.

Individually, two Tiger boys earned top finishes in Pierre. Cheech Harmon cruised to a win in the 1600 meter run, finishing at the head of the pack in a time of 4:46.64; while Quenton Walls soared to a win in the triple jump, as he launched a leap of 39-feet, 2-inches.

Huron returns to action on Friday, at the Eastern South Dakota meet in Yankton.
