HURON — The Beadle County Relay For Life hosted its third annual bean bag tournament fundraiser Friday evening at the Plains.
This year’s local American Cancer Society Relay for Life event is set for Friday, June 9, at the South Dakota State Fairgrounds.
Relay For Life organizes fundraisers once a month with different entertainment and themes such as pancake feeds and bake sales.
The funds raised through these events go toward Hope Lodge, to help cancer patients and families needing support, helping with transportation for doctors appointments and hotels for families. Additional funding is used in encouraging patients to “look good, feel better” through a beauty techniques program, as well as providing funding toward cancer research.
Many events are organized to raise funds across the state in different counties. Beadle County’s next fundraiser will be Tuesday, May 16. On that night, Relay for Life members will be helping with a Godfather’s Pizza fundraiser, where a portion of all sales will go toward Hope Lodge.
