Washington slips past Huron

HURON — A second half rally came up short for the Huron boys’ soccer team against the No. 4-ranked Sioux Falls Washington Warriors on Tuesday at Tiger Stadium.
The Warriors put up three goals in the opening half and held on for a 3-2 victory against the Tigers. Huron falls to 2-4-0 with the loss while Washington improves to 4-0-2.
“We started the game on the defensive and didn’t come out attacking,” said Huron coach Leah Branaugh. “Sioux Falls Washington is a fast and physical team. Once they scored, we tried to play more defensively and ended up playing scared and timid.”
After some halftime adjustments, the Tigers played better in the second half, keeping the Warriors on their end of the pitch. “We started building from the back and making smarter decisions that lead to better plays,” Branaugh said.

Baht Khin scored both Huron goals in the game, with an assist coming from Thai Say. Eh Bleh made eight stops in goal for the Tigers.
“The second half was the best half of soccer we have played all year,” Branaugh added. “I’m proud of the way we played that second half and hope that‚confidence we can take into our future games.”
Huron dropped the boys’ JV game, 3-0 and the Huron girls’ varsity stayed winless with a 5-0 loss.
