Why is the VA prescribing hydroxychloriquine?

Posted

To the Editor:

Why are patients at VA Hospitals continuing to be treated with hydroxychloriquine?

The VA’s own study showed that those who were given the drug showed no benefit. Rather they had a 28% higher death rate after pre-existing conditions and other factors were taken into account.

All major Veteran’s groups — The VFW, Iraq and Afghanistan Veterans of America and the American Legion — have registered objections.

The Senate Veteran’s Affairs Committee has also objected. Yet this application continues. Why?

This should be a medical and scientific decision, not a political one.
