YANKTON — The Yankton Bucks were hitting on all cylinders Saturday, defeating the Huron Tigers in a doubleheader, 11-0 and 10-1, in Yankton.

In the first game, Yankton used an eight-run second inning to open up a deficit that the Tigers were never able to overcome.
Bucks pitchers Frankie Intveld and Beck Ryken combined for five shutout innings, allowing just three Tiger hits, walking two, and striking out 10 Huron hitters.

Logan Leyendecker opened the game on the bump for the Tigers, lasting two innings, allowing nine runs on six hits and a walk, striking out two. Brady Feenstra pitched the final two innings in relief, allowing two runs on three hits and a walk, striking out three.

Bubba Peterson reached base three times with a double, single, and a hit by pitch. Trace Wenz had a single and was hit by pitch as the only other Tiger to reach base twice.

The Tigers actually scored first in the second game of the twinbill, but the home team came back immediately and finished the sweep with a 10-1 victory.

Huron got a baserunner in the second inning when Brady Feenstra walked and then CJ Gainey singled and Feenstra moved to third. Gainey then stole second and Feenstra scored on an error by the Yankton catcher.

Tommie Martin and Peterson each walked to load the bases with one out, but a pop out and a fielder’s choice ended the potential Huron rally. Trey Sager and Kael Garry combined to strike out 12 Tiger hitters and allow just two hits.

Peterson opened the game on the mound went four innings, allowing six runs on five hits and four walks, striking out two. Martin relieved for two innings, giving up four runs on five hits and a pair of walks while striking out one.

Peterson walked three times and stole two bases in an attempt to spark the Huron offense from the leadoff position. Layne Wenzel and Gainey each had a single and a walk. Gainey stole a base as well.

The Tigers are back in action Tuesday against Pierre at Klock Field at 7 p.m.
