I would like to address some of the rumors that are circulating throughout our community regarding the WheatGrass Village housing project in the Southtown addition. We need to have our questions answered prior to May 16th, so our votes are based on facts and not rumors.
When the sale bills were printed, they indicated right on them that there were various size lots with endless possibilities for sale. They were listed R-2, which is single-family housing; R-3 for townhouses and R-4 for multi-family dwellings. It was never indicated on the sale bill or at the auction that these lots could not and would not be rezoned for future development.
Further, I wish to address the concerns of property owners that have their residences on 26th Street. The upscale apartment complex is being built on the north side of 24th Street, which is two blocks from their residences and not directly across the street, as is being stated. As you travel throughout our community, or any other community, you will notice that there are apartment complexes built in the same area as single-family dwellings and townhouses.
