Kiwanis Club learns of summer library program

Posted

HURON — The Huron Kiwanis Club hosted Glenda Maxted, Assistant Library Director, who spoke to the club members on the upcoming “Feed & Read” program that will be new this summer.

The United Way’s Backpack Program ends for the schoolyear in May and will re-start in the fall when school begins. Maxted said the Feed & Read program is designed to fill the gap during the summer break, offering snacks/meals for children to pick up on Fridays, while encouraging the youth to join the summer reading program.

The program is available to kids 18 years and under in the Beadle County area. Please reach out to the library to donate to Feed & Read or to register your child.

The Huron Kiwanis Club will hold its weekly meeting at noon on Thursday, April 11, at Ryan’s Hanger. Club members are welcome and are responsible for purchase of their lunch. This week’s guest speaker is Matt Zomer, Manager of Operation at Dakota Energy Cooperative.  If you are interested in becoming a club member, please join them on Thursday.
