HURON — Putters and Scoops at Ravine Lake marked their first day open for the season, Saturday morning. Local South Dakota State University ice cream straight from the campus, lunch and lemonade on a summer day by the lake sounds like just the ticket during this hot weather, and they are available for services Monday through Saturday, 11 a.m. to 9 p.m., and Sunday 1 to 9 p.m.
Putters and Scoops have a miniature golf course for which they offer family passes, they also offer kayak and paddle boat rentals. Lunch specials run Monday to Thursday from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m., and food is available all day, Putters and Scoops will be open for business until the end of August.
Kendra Baltzer is taking on her third summer as the owner and manager of the business, and has been employed as staff since 2012. Baltzer was trained over time to take over the position as previous owner and family friend, Melanie Harrington, had intended to sell. Kendra Baltzer shares, “I would like to say thank you to the Park and Recreation department, my parents for all their help with redesigning, and to Melanie Harrington for all the help and support.”
