HURON — Huron Regional Medical Center (HRMC) is pleased to announce Kim Rieger has been promoted to vice president of ancillary and support services, according to Erick Larson, president and CEO for HRMC.
In her new role, Rieger is responsible for the effective operation of HRMC’s pharmacy, laboratory, radiology, environmental services, food services and Pro Rehab. She will provide support and guide these department directors in establishing goals that align with HRMC’s strategic objectives.
Rieger has served as VP-marketing and communications for nearly 19 years, representing HRMC in the media and community and directing marketing and internal communications.
“Kim has a clear understanding of the importance of discovering and serving the needs of our employees, medical staff, community partners, volunteers and our patients,” said Larson. “I look forward to working with her in this new role. In her years working at HRMC, she has proven to be the consummate team member and a champion of our mission, vision and values.”
Originally from Huron, Rieger earned both her Bachelor of Arts degree in Mass Communications and Master of Science degree in Administrative Studies-Leadership from the University of South Dakota in Vermillion.
She began her career in television working as a creative services producer in Iowa and Nebraska before returning home and transitioning to the print industry as the creative services coordinator for the Huron Plainsman.
Prior to joining HRMC, she was the manager of customer communication at Northwestern Energy for eight years.
“I am excited and grateful for this opportunity to use my skills and experiences to make an even greater impact on our organization and community,” said Rieger. “I look forward to working with the directors and teams, providing help, support and direction to help them continue providing excellent care.”
Rieger and her husband, Rob, who is the City of Huron water/sewer superintendent, live in Huron and have two grown sons: Jake, who works for Midco, and Gabe, who just completed his junior year at USD, where he is enrolled in the ROTC (Reserve Officer Training Corp.) program. He has served in the South Dakota National Guard since January 2020. In her spare time, Rieger enjoys traveling, working out and camping.
