HURON — Under bright sun, 20 competitors - 12 women and eight men - competed in “The RavineMan,” a sprint triathlon held in and around Ravine Lake.
Harrisburg’s Ken Winter was the to finisher in the triathlon, crossing the line in 1:04:43.59 after completing the 500 meter swim in Ravine Lake, a 20-kilometer bike ride east of Huron and back on Highway 14 and a 5K run through Memorial Park.
Of the three disciplines, Winter was the top finisher in only the bike portion of the event. Where winter did make up precious seconds on the field was in the two transition areas, where he had both of the top times.
Kathy Grady of Sioux Falls was the first female finisher in the race and was second overall in 1:07:57.69. Grady had the second fastest time in both the swim and bike legs.
Huron’s Jory Wipf had the top time in the 5K run, as he earned a third-place overall finish. Wipf edged fellow Huronian Johnny Richman who finished fourth.
