Former Hitchcock resident passes away after skiing accident

BROOKINGS — Trenton Hofer, 24, of Brookings, and formerly of Hitchcock, passed away Saturday, February 8, 2020, after a skiing accident near Lead, South Dakota.
His funeral service will be at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, at Bethesda Church in Huron. Burial will be in the Prairie Bible Church Cemetery in rural Carpenter.
Visitation is today from 4 to 7 p.m. at Bethesda Church, with his family present during that time, and a prayer service and time of sharing at 6:30 p.m. at the church.
Trenton Ethan Hofer was born October 10, 1995, to Todd and Melanie (Ellis) Hofer at Huron.
He is survived by his parents, Todd and Melanie Hofer; five siblings, Travis (Leah) Hofer, Morgan Hofer, Trevor Hofer, Ty Hofer, and Madison Hofer; grandparents; aunts and uncles; and many cousins.
He was preceded in death by his maternal grandfather, Rev. Doyle Ellis.
In lieu of flowers, his family requests memorials be directed to two of Trent’s ministries: Byron Bible Camp of Huron and Equip Campus Ministries at First Baptist Church of Brookings.
