MILLER — Yvonne Evans, 79, of Miller passed away Sunday, February 25, 2018, at Avera Queen of Peace Hospital, Mitchell.
Funeral Mass will be 10:30 a.m., Saturday, March 3, at St. Ann’s Catholic Church in Miller. Burial will follow in St. Lawrence Cemetery at St. Lawrence. Visitation will be held from 5 to 7 p.m. Friday at Reck Funeral Home in Miller.
Yvonne Marie Schaefers was born March 20, 1938, in Faulkton to Frank and Mary (Schmit) Schaefers. She graduated as valedictorian of her class from Fairview High School in Polo. Following graduation, she attended St. John’s Nursing School in Huron and Mount Marty College in Yankton.
She was united in marriage to Howard Evans, February 7, 1958. The couple moved to Miller and Yvonne worked at Lips Dining Center and as a child care provider before working over 30 years at the Hand County Memorial Hospital.
She is survived by her children, Dave (Val) Evans, Anita (Craig Bump) Baker, Mike Evans, Gary Evans, Kevin (Duron) Evans, Colleen (Blair) Scoular and Terry Evans; siblings, Duane, and Joyce Wieseler; sister-in-law, Belva Evans; along with 12 grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband; her parents; one brother; two brothers-in-law; and five sisters-in-law.
Reck Funeral Home of Miller has been entrusted with Yvonne’s arrangements.
