Wolsey-Wessington 28, De Smet 6
WOLSEY - The Wolsey-Wessington Warbirds came out strong in the first half and held on for a 28-6 victory over the Class “B” third-ranked De Smet Bulldogs in Wolsey on Friday.
Blaze Herdman accounted for four touchdowns for the Warbirds, rushing for three scores on 90 yards and throwing for a touchdown along with 241 yards.
Caleb Richmond hauled in 148 yards receiving with a touchdown. Moshe Richmond led Wolsey-Wessington, now 2-2, with eight tackles on defense.
The Bulldog offense was led by Britt Carlson with 150 yards and a touchdown through the air. Kayden Fast had 73 yards receiving and 41 yards rushing.
Gannon Gruenhagen led the De Smet (3-2) defense with 16 tackles.
The Warbirds travel to face Colman-Egan Friday. The Bulldogs have an off week before hosting Arlington Sept. 30.
Deubrook 16, Iroquois/Lake Preston 12
LAKE PRESTON - The Deubrook Dolphins spoiled Lake Preston’s homecoming by defeating the Iroquois/Lake Preston Sharks Friday 16-12 in Lake Preston.
Quarterback Jace Vomacka led the Dolphins, going 9 of 17 through the air for 94 yards and a score and rushing for a team-high 25 yards.
Jacob Jorenby grabbed four receptions for 53 yards and a touchdown for Deubrook, now 4-1.
The Sharks fell to 0-5 despite outgaining the Dolphins 255 yards to 160. Haydon Shurson rushed for 167 yards and a pair of touchdowns to lead I/LP.
The Sharks will travel to Elkton Friday to face Elkton-Lake Benton.

WESSINGTON SPRINGS - The Woonsocket/Wessington Springs/Sanborn Central Blackhawks pitched a 36-0 shutout over the Miller/Highmore-Harrold Rustlers Friday in Wessington Springs.
Quarterback Holden Havlik accounted for three scores as the Blackhawks outgained the Rustlers 352-42 in the game.
Havlik completed 9 of 17 passes for 161 yards and two touchdowns while rushing for a score as well. Brady Larson led the Blackhawks (3-2) with 85 yards rushing and 56 yards receiving. Larson scored a rushing and receiving touchdown.
The Rustlers fell to 1-4 despite the efforts on defense by Gunner Bueggeman, who had 10 solo tackles.
The Blackhawks travel to Armour Friday to play Tripp-Delmont/Armour/Andes Central/Dakota Christian while the Rustlers host Hill City.
