CAVOUR — Benjamin Miner, age 37, of Cavour, passed away Friday, November 29, 2019, as the result of a tragic vehicle accident.
His Celebration of Life will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday, at the Nordby Exhibit Hall on the South Dakota State Fairgrounds (use the 3rd Street Main Entrance).
In lieu of flowers, an education fund has been set up for Ben’s daughters at American Bank & Trust, 1820 Dakota Ave S., Huron, S.D. 57350.
Ben was born March 6, 1982, to Don and Tami (Olson) Miner. He graduated from Huron High School in 2000, where he enjoyed playing hockey, football, and spending time with his friends.
After high school, he graduated from Lake Area Vocational Tech in Watertown. His love of the mountains and snowboarding led him to Keystone, Colo. He worked at the resort and indulged in outdoor sports, as well as putting his trade to use working construction in the Denver area, before following his heart back home to the farm. Soon after, he met the love of his life, Shawn, in Spearfish. He joined her there until she finished her degree, which “that was just part of the deal”, then they both returned to the Miner homestead.
On June 5, 2010, Ben married the wild west river brumby Shawn Sinkular. Together they had four beautiful daughters, Bayla, Charlotte, Ada, and Maren whom he loved so much, yet was strict with, because he wasn’t raising no damn liberals. Trump 2020!
Ben had a heart of gold; he could light up a room as soon as he walked in. He was someone that made you feel welcome, as though you had known him his whole life. He had a great love for the outdoors, hunting, farming, family and friends. His outgoing personality, love for life and upbeat attitude will be greatly missed.
Ben is survived by his wife, Shawn; four lovely daughters, Bayla, Charlotte, Ada, and Maren; parents, Don and Tami Miner; sister, Jessie (Mike) Gartner and their children, Clare and Gus; grandfather, Donnie Olson; father-in-law, Bill Sinkular; mother-in-law, Melanie and her husband, Rick Steskal; sister-in-law, Mandy (Jerad) Goens and their children, Jennie and Jack; and brother-in-law, Chris Sinkular and son, William; as well as several aunts, uncles, cousins and friends that all meant a great deal to him.
He was preceded in death by paternal grandparents, Don and Peggy Miner; and his maternal grandmother, Jan and her husband, Bill Bock.
His funeral arrangements are under the direction of the Kuhler Funeral Home.
