Fall Orientation set Wednesday for HHS athletics
HURON — The Huron High School Fall Orientation meeting for athletics is scheduled for 7 p.m. on Wednesday in the HHS auditorium. All athletes and parents in grades 6-12 are encouraged to attend.
Prior to the organizational meeting, Mike Oster, a Brigadier General with the South Dakota Army National Guard will provide a keynote address concerning team work and character building at 4 p.m., in the auditorium. He spoke at this year’s South Dakota High School Coach Association event. His address will be followed by a free meal for athletes, coaches and parents at 5 p.m., in the HHS commons.
Screening American will also be at the Fall Orientation, with sign-ups beginning at 6 p.m.The date for screens in Huron will be Aug. 12.
A Middle School Sports Night is scheduled for Aug. 5 from 5:30-6:30 p.m. in the HMS commons.

Concussion testing begins Tuesday at HHS
Testing will be held from 10 a.m. To 12:30 p.m., on Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday and then again from 11 a.m., to 12:30 p.m., on Aug. 2 and Aug. 9.
Huron athletes with questions regarding physicals or concussion testing can contact the Huron Activities Office at 353-6970.

First practices scheduled for Huron athletics
HURON — The schedule for the first practices for fall sports in Huron has been announced.
Cheer and dance – Aug. 2, 3:30-6:30 p.m., at Madison Elementary.
Girls’ tennis – Aug. 2, grades 6-12, 5:30-8 p.m., Huron Courts.
Boys’ soccer – Aug. 2, grades 7-12, 3:30-5:30 p.m., at HHS fields.
Girls’ soccer – Aug. 2, grades 7-12, 4-6 p.m., at HHS fields.
Boys’ golf – Aug 9, grades 6-12, 8 a.m.-noon at Broadland Creek Golf Course.
Football — Aug. 9, grades 9-12, 8-10:30 a.m., and 3:30-5 p.m., at HHS fields.
Cross Country — Aug. 12, boys and girls in grades 6-12, 8-10 a.m., at HHS fields
Volleyball — Aug. 12, varsity and junior varsity, 7 a.m., at Huron Arena; grades 9-10, 8 a.m., at HHS gym.
Middle school football and volleyball – Aug. 23, 3:30-5 p.m., at middle school.
