WESSINGTON SPRINGS — Lester Weber, 90, of Wessington Springs passed away on Saturday, Oct. 20, 2018, surrounded by his family.
His funeral service will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Tuesday at Our Savior’s Lutheran Church with Rev. Don Grubb officiating. Burial will be in Prospect Hill Cemetery with military rites by the Wessington Springs American Legion. Visitation will be held from 5 to 7 p.m. today at the Basham Funeral Home, with a prayer service to follow at 7 p.m.
He was born on Sept. 4, 1928, to Ben and Carrie Weber. He went to grade school in Hand County and graduated from Wessington Springs High School in 1946.
During and following high school he worked at Wahl’s Creamery until he entered the service in 1951. He served in the Korean War from 1952-1953.
In Aug., 1954, he married Vera Speck at the Salem Lutheran Church. He was a member of the VFW and American Legion.
He is survived by his wife, Vera; daughters, Donna (Larry) Jost and Denise Colbert; four grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his son Kevin; step-mother, Lydia Weber; brother- and sister-in-law, ,Lawrence and Betty Jo Weber; and son-in-law, Pat Colbert.
