HURON — Mary Martinmaas, age 65, of Huron, passed away Thursday, Nov. 18, 2021, at Huron Regional Medical Center.
Her memorial service will be held at 2 p.m., Tuesday, Nov. 23, at the Kuhler Funeral Home. Visitation will be an hour prior to the service at the funeral home. Her service will be livestreamed through the Kuhler Funeral Home website.
Mary was born Jan. 4, 1956, to Darrell Sr. and Donna (Hofer) Danielson, at Mitchell.
Mary worked at Huron Dressed Beef, where she met the love of her life, Gary. On July 12, 1986, Mary married Gerhard “Gary” Martinmaas at the First Assembly of God Church at Huron. Together they raised their family in Huron. Later on, Mary worked at Midcom, then retired early due to a disability.
She enjoyed Mickey Mouse and M & Ms due to having the same initials “M.M.” Mary loved to play cards, especially pinochle; liked to visit the casinos; and go dancing. She loved to listen to her husband, Gary, sing and play his guitar. Mary cherished the time spent with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Gary on Nov. 26, 2017; one son, Justin Gary Martinmaas on Nov. 8, 1987; and one brother, Darrell Danielson on Nov. 7, 2013.
Grateful for having shared in his life are her three children, Starla (Casey) McKown of Huron, Dustin (Halie) Martinmaas of Aurora, Amanda (Mike Bach) Martinmaas of Huron; step-children; step-son, Billy Martinmaas; one sister, Dot (Phil) Koschney of Huron; seventeen brothers-and-sisters-in-law; three grandchildren, Shantell McKown, Andrew McKown and Luca Martinmaas; two great-grandchildren, Scout McKown and Stryker McKown; two nephews, Jason Stigge of Huron and Travis Stigge of Huron; and one niece, Heather Danielson of Highmore.
