HIGHMORE — Patricia Bonnichsen, 88, of Highmore, passed away Thursday, February 14, 2019 at the Highmore Health.
Her funeral service will be 10:30 a.m., today at the United Methodist Church in Highmore. Burial will follow in the Highmore Cemetery.
Patricia Opal (Zoellner) Bonnichsen was born May 13, 1930, in Groton to Melvin and Minnie (Schott) Zoellner. She graduated from Groton High School and went on to obtain a degree in Education at Northern State in Aberdeen. She then moved to Highmore and taught third grade. She was united in marriage to Martin Bonnichsen August 26, 1951. She was a member of PEO, the American Legion Auxiliary, a 4-H leader. She was integral in the planning of poppy sales, Memorial Day wreaths, and Veterans Day programs. She was a devoted member of the United Methodist Church.
She is survived by her children, Steve (Cathy) Bonnichsen, James (Wanda) Bonnichsen, Sue Yackley, and Cindy Cermak; son-in-law, Rod Kusser; 15 grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren; brother, Gene (Marlene) Zoellner; sisters-in-law, Arlys Zoellner, and Joyce Aasby; and many other relatives.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Martin; brother, Keith; daughter, Janet; and two daughters-in-law: Susie Bonnichsen and Valerie Bonnichsen.
