WESSINGTON SPRINGS — Rodney “Rod” L. LeGrand, 59, of Wessington Springs, passed away Sunday, November 11, 2018, at his residence.
A celebration of Rod’s life will be from 2 to 7 p.m., Saturday, November 17, at the Alpena Community Center with lunch served during the celebration.
Rodney Lyman LeGrand was born June 4, 1959, in Huron to Lyman M. and Nancy J. (Binger) LeGrand. Rod graduated from Huron High School in 1977.
Rod was an over the road truck driver for most of his life and was currently working at Grohs Digging. Rod lived in Wessington Springs for the last 4 ½ years to be closer to family.
Rod enjoyed fishing and hunting. As a hobby, he enjoyed carpentry work. He especially loved his dog, Sugar, who was a constant companion to him. In the last few years, Rod enjoyed having a vegetable garden at his home.
Rod is survived by his mother, Nancy LeGrand of Huron; his children, Crystal Christensen and friend, Chad Kopfmann of Wessington Springs, and Jeremie LeGrand and friend, Melinda Salas of Huron. His grandchildren, Lacey Christensen, Lucas Christensen, Adriana Salas, Sidney Salas and Ian Octavo. His brothers and sisters, Peggy (Gene) Bellando of Calabush, North Carolina, Joni (George) LeGrand of Virgil, and Doug LeGrand of Huron.
He was preceded in death by his father, Lyman LeGrand; and his brother, Randy LeGrand.
