Songer wins Pure Stock Special at Miller Central Speedway

MILLER — Cody Songer of Wolsey started on the front row and stayed up for the claim the win during the Pure Stock Special on Saturday at Miller Central Speedway.

Trailing Songer across the finish line in the 10-lap feature race was Andy Brooker of Tulare, who started fifth in the 7-car field.
Wyatt Schweigert of Huron was third, followed by Camden Rassel of Woonsocket and Mackenzie Kopecky of Miller.

Mike Hammill of Miller won the lone pure stock heat race.

Maria Broksieck of Goodwin earned her second win in as many nights of racing in the WISSOTA street stock main event. She started eighth in the 16-car field and worked her way to the front in the 12-lap race.

Jayden Bogh of Huron, who recorded a win on Friday at Brown County Speedway in Aberdeen, was second, while polesitter Kyle Bertram of Dallas was third. Rounding out the top five were Broc Stout of Winner and Andy Rossow of Florence.

Earning the street stock heat wins were Bertram and Rossow.

Dale Ames of Huron found Victory Lane in the 15-lap WISSOTA modified feature race. He started on the outside of the front row and held off pole sitter Kelly Duffy of Winner for the win.

Mike Stearns of Aberdeen, who was the feature winner during the season opener, was third, followed by Dylan Zabel of Selby and Tony Konold of Clear Lake.


Jordan Kienow of Miller (55) and Matt Heinzerling of Speafish battle for position during their WISSOTA Midwest modified heat race on Saturday at Miller Central Speedway.

Zabel collected the victory in the lone modified main events.

Shane Howell of Buffalo, Minn., made the trek west pay off with a victory in the WISSOTA Midwest modified main event.

Lorin Johnson of Miller and Jayme Peterson of were second and third, respectively. Huron drivers Adam Brotherton and Cory Berquist ran fourth and fifth, respectively, and were the heat race winners.

Jayson Good of Watertown secured the win in the 20-lap WISSOTA late model main event. He started on the pole en route to the win.

Justin Karlen of Howard was second, while Josh Skorczewski of Aberdeen moved from his sixth starting spot to third.

Chase Gelling of Aberdeen was fourth, followed by Chad Becker of Aberdeen, who had won the previous week.

Skorczewski and Gelling had the heat wins in the late model division.

Stewart Schipke charged from sixth to first in the 15-lap WISSOTA super stock feature race.

Jeremy North of Huron was second, followed by Brad Kopecky of Miller, Kyle Elsen of Bath and Doug VanLiere of Madison.
Kopecky notched the win in the super stock heat race.

After taking a week off to accommodate the Challenge Cup XXI event on Saturday at Dakota State Fair Speedway in Huron, racing will return to Miller Central Speedway on June 10 with the Street Stock Special. All classes will be in action, with $1,000 going to the winner of the street stock feature race.
