Tigers 12th in Watertown

WATERTOWN — The Huron girls’ golf team finished 12th during the Watertown Invitational on Monday at Cattail Crossings Golf Course.
With the top two golfers in the field, Sioux Falls O’Gorman ran away with the team title. The Knights posted a score of 306 to finish 22 strokes ahead of second-placed Aberdeen Central. Pierre was third with a 339, followed by Yankton at 340. Rapid City Stevens and Watertown shared the fifth spot with scores of 356.

Rounding out the top 10 teams were Harrisburg in seventh at 368, Brookings at 387, Brandon Valley at 388 and Mitchell at 389. Milbank and Sisseton shared the 11th spot with scores of 400, which put them two strokes ahead of Huron.
Carly Kunkel won the event for O’Gorman with a 71, while teammate Jenna Sutcliffe was second at 76. Reese Jansa of Harrisburg was third at 77, followed by Halle Gronlund of Pierre with an 78. Maddie Otta of O’Gorman and Molly Schwartz of Douglas shared the fifth spot with scores of 79.
Karlie Bigelow led the Tigers with a 90, while Bryn Huber and Kenya Bigelow had scores of 91 and 92, respectively. Libby Picek rounded out the lineup with a 129.
Huron hosts the Eastern South Dakota Conference Tournament at Broadland Creek Golf Course.
