HARRISBURG — The Huron Tiger tennis team posted back-to-back sweeps, over Lennox and Vermillion, before notching a 4-2 heat-shortened win over the home-standing Harrisburg Tigers Friday, at the Harrisburg Quadrangular.

“The girls all played awesome today,” said coach Rachel Kary at the end of the long day of tennis. “Winning all three matches is a great accomplishments.”

In singles action, Huron’s Lizzy Heinen, Bianca Medina, Beth Engelhart and Say Ma all ended up with perfect 3-0 records on the day.

Heinen downed Grace Dressen of Lennox and Vermillion’s Annika Barnett by identical 10-4 scores. Then Heinen defeated Maddie Eisenbeisz of Harrisburg.

Medina defeated Courtney Sandal (Lennox), Mya Halverson of Vermillion and Harrisburg’s Erika Starr.

Englehart took out Brooke Beuhner of Lennox, Kasey Hanson of Vermillion  and Nicole Lin of Harrisburg on the day, while Say Ma downed Lennox’s Brooklyn Glenn, Vermillion’s and Saige Jorgensen of Harrisburg.

All of the Tiger doubles teams ended the day with perfect 2-0 marks, as excessive heat led to the cancellation of the Huron/Harrisburg doubles matchup.

The No. 1 Tiger doubles team of AnneClaire Rubish and  Heinen derailed Madison Buehner and Dressen of Lennox before dispatching Barnett and Halverson of Vermillion.

Medina and Englehart, playing as the No. 2 team, defeated Sandal and Brooke Beuhner of Lennox and then took out Hanson and Halverson of Vermillion.

At the No. 3 doubles, Ma and Hoek downed Kathryn Lowe and Stein of Lennox and then ended their day with a win over Jorgensen and Sakara White-Davis of Vermillion.

Huron is back in action today, taking on St. Thomas More and Spearfish at Griffin Park in Pierre.

“It was a great day for Tiger tennis today,” Kary added.
