Huron golfers compete in ESD tourney Saturday

PIERRE — Just two strokes separated the top three teams during the Eastern South Dakota Conference Boys’ Golf Meet, which was held Saturday at Hillsview Golf Course.
Watertown finished at 287 to edge Harrisburg by a stroke for the ESD championship, while Pierre was just a stroke behind Harrisburg for third with a 289.
Mitchell was fourth at 305, while Brandon Valley was fifth just a stroke back. Rounding out the field were Brookings at 311, Yankton at 317, Aberdeen Central at 325 and Huron at 411.
Jake Olson of Watertown used a round of 65 to claim the ESD individual title. He finished a stroke ahead of Parker Schultz of Harrisburg.
Luke Olson of Pierre was third at 70, while Kaden Rylance of Watertown and Coby Meyer of Brandon Valley shared the fourth spot with scores of 71.
Riley Christensen of Harrisburg was sixth at 72, while Pierre teammates Sawyer Sonnenshein, Nick Bottun, Lincoln Houska and Jack Bartlett claimed a share of the seventh spot with scores of 73. Also finishing at 73 were Jackson Childs of Mitchell and Kade Brecher of Brookings.
Aiden Zavesky had a score of 90 to lead Huron, while Riley Jankord shot a 100. Link Vu and Jack Bales of Huron had scores of 106 and 115, respectively.
Capping the season for the Class AA teams will be the State Tournament on Oct. 3-4 in Mitchell.
