WOONSOCKET — Aleck L. Larson, 83, of Woonsocket, passed away Wednesday, April 8, 2018, at Prairie Care Center.
A memorial service will be 2 p.m., Saturday June 9, at the Woonsocket Community Center at 2 p.m. Honorary rites will be held by Woonsocket American Legion Post 29. Inurnment will be in Silver Creek Cemetery at rural Woonsocket.
Aleck Leonard Larson born August 30, 1934, near Woonsocket to Edward and Frederica (Kruse) Larson. He attended rural McDonald School and later Woonsocket Public School.
He was united in marriage to Edwina Pierce March 5, 1955. He was drafted in the army in 1960, serving for one and a half years.
Through the years, he had been employed as a carpenter and later as a janitor at Lewis Drug, the courthouse in Woonsocket and the Huron and Woonsocket schools. He also drove school bus. He was a member of the Woonsocket American Legion Post 29.
He is survived by his daughters, Laurie (Tom) Klich of Woonsocket, and Kathie Hibbard of Pierre; five grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; sisters, Mandy Schulz of Woonsocket, and Alma (Carl) Fielder of Union, Neb; and special friend, Fran Cangelosi.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Edwina; 10 brothers; and four sisters.
