Wessington Springs 66, James Valley Christian 47
HURON — The Wessington Springs Spartans snapped the James Valley Christian Vikings’ four-game winning streak with a 66-47 victory Friday at JVC gym.

The Spartans, ranked fourth in the most recent Class “B” poll, move to 18-1 with four players in double-figure scoring, led by Parker Graff’s 18 points. Brock Krueger had 16 points, 10 rebounds, and five steals.

Ryder Michalek chipped in 16 and Colby Flowers added 11 points for the Spartans.

Davis Chase and Isaac Korell each scored 10 for JVC, who falls to 10-9.

The Vikings play Sully Buttes today at the Warner Classic while the Spartans close the season Friday hosting Sanborn Central/Woonsocket.

FORESTBURG — Using an 11-2 run in the second quarter, Sanborn Central/Woonsocket claimed a 63-38 victory in a 281 Conference matchup against Iroquois/Lake Preston on Thursday.

The Blackhawks, who improved to 8-10, led 27-11 at the break.

Jeff Boschee tallied a game-high 25 points and had four assists to lead Sanborn Central/Woonsocket. Cody Slykhuis had 19 points, while Trey Moody had a team-high 11 rebounds.

Joah McMasters led Iroquois/Lake Preston with 17 points, while Lucas Peskey added 11 points.

Both teams will close the regular season on Friday. Sanborn Central/Woonsocket travels to play Wessington Springs and Iroquois/Lake Preston hosts Sunshine Bible Academy in Iroquois.

Wessington Springs 50, James Valley Christian 45
HURON — The Wessington Springs Lady Spartans held off a determined push by the James Valley Christian Lady Vikings Friday night, for a tough 50-45 win in 281 Conference girls’ basketball at the JVC gymnasium.

The Lady Vikings had no answer for Avery Orth, as the 6-foot, 3-inch Lady Spartan scored 19 points in the contest. Carissa Scheel added nine for Wessington Springs.

JVC had three in double figures, led by Alexa Goertz’s 15 point effort. Both Kaylie Robinson and Addison Bartholow chipped in 11.

The Lady Vikings, which fall to 13-5, will open play in the Region 2B next week as the second seed, while the Lady Spartans, 16-4, will play in Region 5B next week, where Wessington Springs has earned the top seed.

North Central 45, Sunshine Bible Academy 29
MILLER — The North Central Thunder put a rough end on the Sunshine Bible Academy season finale Friday, coming away with a 45-29 victory at the SBA Event Center.

North Central moves to 8-12 behind 15 points and nine rebounds from Ella Batie. Amree VanderVorst added 14 points.

The Crusaders fall to 2-15 despite nine points and 13 rebounds from Sadie Konechne.

SBA will open region play Monday.

FORESTBURG - The Iroquois/Lake Preston Sharks made a valiant comeback after trailing 17-9 at half, but came up just short as the Sanborn Central/Woonsocket Blackhawks scored a 41-39 victory Thursday

The Blackhawks move to 11-9 while the Sharks fall to 9-11.

Kam Ochsner scored 14 points to lead all scorers for the Blackhawks. Kenna Ochsner grabbed eight rebounds.

The Sharks were led on offense by Hadlee Holt with 11 points. Faith Steffensen grabbed eight rebounds.

The Blackhawks took the JV game 38-28.

Both teams begin region play on Tuesday.
