STERLING, Colo. — Charles (Chuck) Podraza, 79, of Sterling, Colorado, passed away from Pulmonary Fibrosis Saturday, September 9, 2017, in Greeley, Colo.
A memorial service will be 10:30 a.m., Friday, September 15, at Peace Lutheran Church in Sterling, Colo.
Chuck was born July 11, 1938, in Chicago, Ill. to Eleanor (Valasek) and Frank Podraza. He moved to Nebraska at the age of 11. He graduated from Silver Creek High School in Silver Creek, Neb. and then received his Bachelor’s Degree from Huron College. He went on to earn his Master’s Degree from Adams State College in Alamosa, Colo.
He taught math, served as Dean of Academics, and was Vice President during his 36-year tenure at Northeastern Junior College. He retired in 1998 to enjoy his time playing golf with friends
He was united in marriage to Connie Sindt Kier June 3, 1967. He was a member of the Elks Club, Sterling Country Club and Peace Lutheran Church.
He is survived by his wife Connie; children, Greg (Gerri) of Lafayette, Colo., Tanya (Dow) of Salida, Colo.; two granddaughters; siblings, Bill (Bernie) Podraza, Frank (Teri) Podraza, and Kathy (Phil) Gray; and many loving family members and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
