SALOME, Ariz. — Dakota Gunderson, 85, of Salome, Ariz., passed away peacefully at home of complications of Covid-19 on December 23, 2020.
A celebration of life and interment of ashes will be held 2:30 p.m. Tuesday, April 6, at Our Saviors Lutheran Church in Wessington Springs.
Dakota was born on October 28, 1935, in Wessington Springs, to August and Alta Knigge.
She married Merrill Gunderson On May 8, 1954.
Dakota’s retirement years were spent as a full time RV’er with Merrill until they established their residence in Salome, Ariz.
Some summers were spent working in Murdo at American Inn and RV Park, avoiding the heat of Arizona. Merrill died in 2010. Dakota continued to live in Salome until her death.
She is survived by her sisters, Elsie Smith and Leona Grieve; brothers, Don Knigge, Larry Knigge, and Lyle Knigge; children, Rhonda Jensen, Randy Gunderson, Sonja Kjorvestad and Dana Gunderson; 11 grandchildren; a host of great-grandchildren; and many friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Merrill; and brother, Willis.
