HOWARD — Dorothy Marie Callies, 91, of Howard, passed away Sunday, April 22, 2018, at Madison Regional Health Center in Madison.
Funeral service will be 2 p.m., Thursday, April 26, at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Howard with burial to follow in the church cemetery. Visitation will be noon today, with family present beginning at 5 p.m. followed by a 7 p.m. prayer service at Willoughby Funeral Home in Howard.
Dorothy Marie Soderberg was born June 18, 1926, near Howard, to Oscar and Lena (Rigg) Soderberg. After graduating from Howard High School in 1944, she worked at Quinn-Taschner Department Store and in the Miner County Clerk of Courts Office.
She was united in marriage to Eugene John Callies March 20, 1948. Together they farmed southeast of Howard for over 65 years. She was a member of St. John’s Lutheran Church.
She is survived by her sons, Gregory (Kathy) Callies of Winfred, Jeffrey Callies of Howard, and Daniel (Cindy) Callies of Howard; six grandchildren; sixteen great-grandchildren; brothers and sisters-in-law, LeAnn and Jim Kvernes, Sharon and Verlin McCarthy, and Ron Becker; along with her nieces, nephews, and her many friends.
She was preceded in death by her husband; siblings, Palmer, Victor, Vern, Hazel and Bernice and great-grandson Colton Shoenrock.
