HURON — Ervan Gerald “Bing” Lehmen, 95, of Huron, passed away Saturday, June 17, 2017, at Violet Tschetter Memorial Home.
His funeral service will be 11 a.m., Wednesday, June 21, at the First Baptist Church. Burial will be in the Restlawn Memory Gardens Cemetery with military honors by the Huron Veterans Council. Visitation will be today from 1 to 8 p.m. at the Kuhler Funeral Home with his family present from 5 to 7 p.m.
Ervan Gerald “Bing” Lehmen was born March 15, 1922, at Huron to Harold and Nancy (Thompson) Lehmen. He served in the Marine Corps from 1941 to 1944, during WWII and was awarded the Purple Heart.
He was united in marriage to Violet Jean Whittemore October 21, 1951. He was employed by the Chicago Northwestern Railroad from 1945 to 1972, and was a member of the Huron Senior Center, the VFW, and the Disabled American Veterans.
He is survived by his daughters, Janelle Lehmen of Huron, Marilyn (David) Estby of Two Harbors, Minn., Connie (Daniel) Bublitz, Laurie Dilley, and Sheila (Wyatt) Brotherton, all of Huron, and Patty (Bruce) Mork of Lyons; 19 grandchildren; 24 great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; several stepgrandchildren; and a nephew and a niece.
He was preceded in death by his wife; son, Leon; grandson, Larry; six siblings, Betty, Wilmer, Robert, Thelma, Glen, and Edwin; and son-in-law, Jeffrey Dilley.
