Gerhard “Gary” Martinmaas, 77, of Huron

HURON — Gerhard “Gary” Martinmaas, 77, of Huron, passed away Sunday, November 26, 2017, at his home surrounded by his family after a valiant battle with cancer. 
His memorial service will be 2 p.m., Thursday, November 30, at the Kuhler Funeral Home with visitation from noon until 2 p.m.
Gerhard “Gary” Leo Martinmaas was born May 23, 1940, at Miller to Herman and Viola (Kuper) Martinmaas. He graduated from a Catholic high school at Salem, Ore. He was united in marriage to Mary Danielson July 12, 1986.
He worked at Huron Dressed Beef and Armour’s, then in maintenance at the Crossroads and at McDonalds. He also had his own cleaning service. He enjoyed gardening, bowling, deer hunting, fishing, camping and playing cards. He was also an avid guitar player, and enjoyed playing for work parties and family gatherings.
He is survived by his wife, Mary; children, William “Billy” (Kim) Martinmaas of Vancouver, Wash., Karen Wood of Portland, Ore., Patrick Martinmaas of Portland, Ore., Trina (Scott) Adermann of Huron, Gerhard “Gary” (Jen) Martinmaas of Aberdeen, Starla (Casey) McKown of Huron, Dustin (Halie) Martinmaas of Aurora, and Amanda Martinmaas of Huron; 11 grandchildren; one great-granddaughter and one great-grandson on the way; sister-in-law, Dot Koschney of Huron; and 17 brothers and sisters.
He was preceded in death by his parents; son, Justin Gary Martinmaas; and brother-in-law, Darrell Danielson.
