REDFIELD — Gladys Kempe, 90, of Redfield, passed away Monday, August 7, 2017, at the Redfield Care and Rehabilitation Center.
Mass of Christian Burial will be 10:30 a.m., Thursday, August 10, at St. Bernard’s Catholic Church in Redfield. Burial will follow in the St. Bernard’s Catholic Cemetery at Redfield. Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. Wednesday with a Rosary beginning at 7 p.m. at the Thelen-Hyke Funeral Home.
Gladys Mary Kempe was born February 19, 1927, in Zell to Julius and Agnes (Muellenberg) Jablinske. Upon her mother’s death, she was raised by her aunt and uncle, Laura and Edward Muellenberg. She graduated from Redfield High School in 1945.
She was united in marriage to Roland Kempe February 26, 1946. The couple farmed north of Ashton. She was a member of the Catholic Daughters of America.
She is survived by her children, Ronald (Millie) Kempe of Bradenton, Fla., and Kevin (Becky) Kempe of Black Hawk; siblings, Irma (Marlin) Stammer of Redfield, and her brother Edward “Bud” (Joyce) Muellenberg of Green Bay, Wis.; 10 grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband; children, Danny, Merrilyn, and Susan; sisters, Marcella Votsis, Arlene Wright, and Lois Galvin; and one grandson, Shane.
Thelen-Hyke Funeral Home has been entrusted with arrangements.
