Heartland Cuisine: Western Way Cowboy Church

Posted

Western Way Cowboy Church has had a wonderful year. This year, we celebrated, as we paid off the loan on our property. We had city water and sewer hooked up to the barn where we have church. Then, of course, the Derecho’s hit.

The first storm caused some damage to our property. We lost one of our out buildings, and had some damage to the barn. We have a mission team headed this way to help us do some of the repairs. They will be with us in October. Right now, we are enjoying meeting outside under the shelter that a mission team built for us last year. We are working right now on putting aside money to build a new barn in which to meet. Hopefully, in the next 5-10 years we will have a brand new barn on the property.

Members were happy to see so many at the National Night out back in August. It was a hot night to be in the park, but it was wonderful to see so many from our community out there. The kids had fun doing the stick horse, and inflatable horse barrel racing at our booth.

Some of the exciting things coming up this year are:

Saturday Sept. 24, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., they will have a craft sale at the barn (church). The address is 1858 3rd St. SE in Huron. A few of the ladies from church will have craft items out for sale. Everyone is welcome to come and browse the crafts, or just come out and take a look at their barn and property.

Tuesday, Oct. 4, at 7 p.m., Paul and Vanessa Cherry from Texas will be here. If you love wonderful gospel music, and preaching, you will want to join them that night. They will be meeting outside, (weather permitting) so bring your lawn chairs.  They will have refreshments afterward, so you have a chance to meet with Paul and Vanessa.

The church isn’t sure at this time if they will be able to host their annual drive through live nativity. They would like to do a Christmas Open House at the barn this year, especially if they aren’t able to do the live nativity. They will release more information out about that later.

As always, if you do not have a church where you attend, or you want to just come out and see what’s happening with the church, you are more than welcome to come out at 7 p.m. on Tuesday nights. You can also find us on Facebook at Western Way Cowboy Church.

You can get in touch with Pastor Chip Holmes on his cell phone at 605-354-7682. If he doesn’t answer, just leave him a message, and he will return your call.

They look forward to having you visit.
