WATERTOWN — Joyce Madelyn Petersen, 90, of Watertown,  passed away Tuesday, September 12, 2017, at a care center in Clear Lake.
A celebration of her life will be a private event held at a later date. Burial will be in the LeSueur Cemetery at Bancroft.
Joyce Madelyn Petersen was born on February 25, 1927, in Lincoln County, Minnesota to Hugh and Annie (Sturtevant) Sharp.  She grew up in the Tyler/Lake Benton and Ivanhoe, Minn. areas.
She was united in marriage to Wesley E. “Wes” Petersen and the couple farmed in and around Tyler and Lake Benton until moving to Bancroft. Besides farming and raising their six children, she was also employed as a seamtress at Raven Industries.
She was dedicated and true to her husband of 50 years.  She was also a hard working and wonderful mom who was smart and funny.  Joyce loved each of her children the same and was very proud of them.  She always stood by them and supported them no matter what.  They loved having her come to stay with them.
She is survived by her children, Barbara (Jerry) Peterson of Watertown, Beverly (Maurice) Muilenberg of Boulder City, Nev., Cynthia (John) Sparacio of Carlsbad, Calif., Scott (Donna) Petersen of Watertown, and Curtis (Lisa) Petersen of Redmond, Ore.; 12 grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Wesley; daughter, Linda Lea Petersen; two sons; and her grandson.
