HURON — Lyle W. Christensen, 86, of Huron, passed away Monday, May 11, 2020, at the Huron Regional Medical Center.
At his request, there will be a private graveside service held at the Richland Cemetery, rural Carpenter with military honors.
Arrangements are with the Kuhler Funeral Home.
Lyle was born April 19, 1934, at Crocker, Clark County, South Dakota, to Elmer and Clara (Muncy) Christensen. He was raised near Carpenter, where he attended school through the 8th grade. He served in the United States Army from 1957 to 1959. Lyle later moved to Sioux Falls where he lived for 40 years, where he worked at John Morrell’s for 33 years. After retiring, he moved to Huron in 2000.
Lyle was a member of the Watertown American Legion and National Rifle Association. He enjoyed hunting and collecting antique cars and tractors. He was especially proud of his 1948 Harley Davidson motorcycle that his dad bought for him. Lyle had many fun times with it for 66 years.
Lyle was preceded in death by his parents, Elmer and Clara Christensen; one brother, Leonard (Judy) Christensen of Carpenter; one sister, Joyce (Peter) Holt of Kansas; and one brother-in-law, Ernie Geyer.
He is survived by his special friend, Rose Gibson of Huron; one sister, Beverly Geyer of Bancroft; and two sons, Wayne Christensen of Laramie, Wyoming and Joe Christensen of Sioux Falls; two grandchildren; a special aunt, Lois McMillan of Huron; and many nieces, nephews and cousins.
