HOWARD — Lynn David VanBockel, 66, of Howard, passed away Wednesday June 14, 2017, at his home surrounded by his family.
Memorial Service will be 11 a.m., Monday, June 19, 2017, at Bethany Lutheran Church in Howard with Rev. Rick Senner officiating. Inturnment will be in Graceland Cemetery at Howard. Visitation will begin Sunday at Noon with the family present to greet friends from 5 to 7 p.m. at Willoughby Funeral Home in Howard.
Lynn was born December 28, 1950, in Hoven to Jake and Doris (Crane) VanBockel. He was raised on the family farm near Lebanon and graduated high school in 1969. He then attended South Dakota School of Mines, graduating in 1975.
He was united in marriage to Peggy Nagel December 28, 1974. He worked for Peavey Ag Services in Gettysburg and Pipestone, Minn. He moved his family to Clark in 1980. During his thirty years living there, he worked as an insurance agent for AAL and Royal Neighbors of America for several years. During the early 2000’s, he began his trucking career. He enjoyed seeing much of the country.
He is survived by his wife; children, David (Carla) VanBockel of Goodyear, Ariz., and Laura (Kevin) Shumaker of Howard; seven grandchildren, Avery, Courtney, Natalie, Lexi, Chas, Max, and Ella; siblings, Layne VanBockel of Gettysburg, and Robyn (Renea) VanBockel of Redfield; and his nieces and nephews.
He was preceed in death by his parents.
