HURON — Marva J. Almond, 83, passed away Thursday, July 21, 2022, at Huron Regional Medical Center in Huron.

Her funeral service will be held 10 a.m. Wednesday at Welter Funeral Home with burial to follow at Restlawn Memory Gardens Cemetery.

Visitation, with the family present, will be from 4 to 6 p.m. Tuesday at Welter Funeral Home. A prayer service will begin 5:30 p.m. Tuesday evening.

Marva Almond was born on Nov. 27, 1938, to the late Werner and Geneva Dossow. Marva grew up in Bloomfield, Neb., before moving to South Dakota, where she cherished her younger years with her three sisters: Marilyn, Patty and Sandy.

Marva was blessed with a large and loving family. She married her sweetheart, Denton Almond, Dec. 20, 1956, in Huron.

They made their home in Huron, where they raised their four sons: Larry, James, Robert and Dallas. Marva loved spending time with her kids, their significant others, and her grandchildren, hosting her entire family in her home whenever she had the chance. Marva had a love for the outdoors, camping, riding motorcycles, horses, and fishing. She loved watching baseball, and spoiling her family with home cooked meals, and most of all baking her famous homemade pies for any special occasion.

Marva had a kind heart, always keeping up with her family and checking in on them. She will be deeply missed by everyone who has gotten to cherish in her 83 years of life.

She is survived by her four sons, Larry (Dawn) Almond of Custer, Jim (Kelly Haines) Almond of  Huron, Robert (Michelle) Almond of Rapid City and Dallas (Amy) Almond of Huron; her grandchildren, Jay Almond, Chad Almond, Justin Almond, Reece (Candis) Almond, Whitney (Nick) Reimer, Sadie (Bill) Mees, Macey (Cody) Bich and Ayden Almond; 13 great-grandchildren; and three sisters, Marilyn, Sandra and Patty.

Marva was preceded in death by her parents and husband.
