Appleton, Wisc. — Myra (Root) Vander Heiden, 70, of Appleton, Wisc., passed away at home after a long battle with COPD in the loving arms of family.
A memorial services will be at 7 p.m., Saturday, April 14, at Boettcher Family Funeral Home, 2401 Fieldcrest Drive, Kaukauna, Wisc. Visitation will be from 4 p.m. until the time of the service.
Myra was born December 3, 1947, in Huron to Harold and Jessie Root. She was united in marriage to Don Vander Heiden May 4, 1968. She worked at Federal Crop Insurance in Huron and was transferred at age 18 to Washington, D.C. for a number of years where she met Don. She then worked for the Federal Housing Association upon moving to Appleton and also started a dairy farm. She also worked at the Out-O-Town Club, then Menards, retiring in 2016.
She is survived by her children, Becky (Tessa Peters) Vander Heiden, and Brad Vander Heiden; five grandchildren; her mother, Jessie Root, siblings, Rita (Tom) Nagan, Doug (Shelly) Root, Russell (Dee Arnott) Root, and Don (Betty) Root; sisters-in-law, Donna (Steve) Wynia, Carol (Bob) Wall; brothers-in-law, Jerry (Terry) Vander Heiden, Ken (Debbie) Vander Heiden; and numerous nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her father; brother, Rick Root; three children, an infant son, baby Daniel and baby Brian; and her father and mother-in-law, Leo and Mary Vander Heiden.
