FAULKTONā€ˆ— Richard L. Wik, 81, of Faulkton, passed away Thursday, March 15, 2018, at his winter home in Fort Myers, Fla., after a long stuggle with Parkinson’s disease.
A memorial service will be 11 a.m., Saturday, May 26, at the United Church of Faulkton. Burial will follow in the Millard Cemetery.
Richard Lyle Wik was born November 6, 1936, in Redfield to Milton and Grace (Riser) Wik. He was united in marriage to Jean Beck August 17, 1958. He graduated from Northern State College in 1956, and went on to receive a Bachelor of Science degree in Business Administration in 1960. In 1963, the couple moved to Bloomington, Minn. where he worked for Merrill Burgess at Burgess-Beckwith Publishing Company. He eventually purchased the company, renaming it Burgess International Group.
He is survived by his wife, Jean; children, Steve (Janet) of Faulkton, and Lori, of Minneapolis, Minn.; two grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; siblings, Robert (Nancy) Wik of Gregory, and Marilyn (Jim) Schlekeway of Mobridge; brother-in-law, John Beck of Aberdeen; as well as nieces, nephews, friends and co-workers.
He was preceded in death by his parents; in-laws, Herman and Ferdina Beck Kalt; and sister-in-law, Vera Finney Wik.
Memorials may be given to Millard Cemetery fund, Faulkton Area Medical Center, or Hope Hospice, Fort Myers, FL.
