Due to the weather, Robert L. Stanfield’s funeral service has been rescheduled. It will be 11 a.m., Thursday, January 3, at the Kuhler Funeral Home. Burial will be in the G.A.R. Cemetery at Miller. Military honors will be conducted by the Hershman-Gordon Post #59, American Legion of Wolsey.

WESSINGTON — Robert L. Stanfield, 87, of Wessington, passed away December 26, 2018, at the Huron Regional Medical Center.
His funeral service will be 11 a.m., Monday at the Kuhler Funeral Home. Burial will be in the G.A.R. Cemetery at Miller. Military honors by the Hershman-Gordon Post No. 59, American Legion of Wolsey. Fellowship luncheon at the Wessington Legion Hall after burial. Visitation is 4 to 7 p.m. Sunday at Kuhler Funeral Home with family present from 5 to 7 p.m.
Robert L. Stanfield was born Sept. 22, 1931, at Letcher to Dean and Grace (Butts) Stanfield. He graduated from Artesian High School. He then enlisted in the U.S. Navy during the Korean War. He was united in marriage to Billie LaVonne Joy December 29, 1956. He was employed with S.D. DOT until 1995, and was a member of the VFW, the American Legion at Wolsey and the Wessington Senior Center.
He is survived by his daughters, Barbara (John) Pollock of Clark, Bonnie (Steve) Mees of Huron, and Becky (Butch) Downey of Cavour; 11 grandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren; sisters, Alice Joy of Aberdeen, Janet Bobeldyke of Huron, Betty Seter of Idaho, and Donna Stanfield of Spearfish.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Billie; grandson, Tom; grandson-in-law, Jesse; long-time companion, Betty French; and siblings, Eldon, Ralph, Bruce, and Helen Estes.
