WESSINGTON — Roy O. Clarke, 94, of Wessington, passed away Saturday, April 13, 2019, at the Good Samaritan Society in Miller.
Funeral service will be 11 a.m., Thursday, April 18, 2019, at First Presbyterian Church in Wessington. Burial will be at a later date in the Wessington Cemetery. Visitation will be 5 to 7 p.m. Wednesday at the church in Wessington.
Roy Clarke was born north of Wessington to Harry J. Clarke and Henrietta (Martens) Clarke. He graduated from Wessington High School in 1943. He was united in marriage to Elizabeth (Betty) Severson September 26, 1946. He raised cattle, grains and alfalfa crops. He served as a substitute mail carrier for 38 years. After retiring from farming, he owned the R & B Food Center.
He is survived by his children, Ronald (Joni) of Bellwood, Neb., Bruce (Karen) of Wessington, and Vernetta (Skeet Smith); nine grandchildren; and 18 great-grandchildren.
He is preceded in death by wife, Betty; brothers; Ralph and Don; and his sisters-in-law.
In lieu of flowers, the family will direct memorials to organizations in the Wessington Community.
