MIDWAY, Ark. — Daniel Kelley, 78, of Midway, Arkansas, was called home to our Lord, Friday, December 15, 2023, comfortably at his home surrounded by family.


He was born March 2, 1945, in Huron to Marvin and Lila (Welch) Kelley.


He met Caroline Kressin, and they were married in a Lutheran Church in Las Vegas. He kept a strong faith in God and was an active member of Trinity Lutheran Church. He was a proud veteran of the U.S. Army (1964-1967), and the National Guard (1970-1973). Dan was a conductor with the railroad and retired after a 35-year career.


His biggest passion was growing bountiful gardens and sharing the fruits and vegetables he grew with family, friends, neighbors, and members of the church. He was a Master Craftsman in his every endeavor; he loved building things with his hands, buildings, and greenhouses of various types and sizes. His other enjoyments included motorcycling, being a fan of St. Louis Cardinals baseball, classic country music, music festivals, and playing cards, dice, and dominoes. Dan highly valued his family and enjoyed spending his time with them.


Daniel is survived by his loving wife; son: Travis; two daughters: Denise (Mike) Aleman and Jolene (Tony) Muths; six grandchildren: Hillary, Chelsea, Alexis, Wyatt, Jack and Ella; five great-grandchildren: Brandtley, Novalee, Savannah, James and Luke; brother: Gary Kelley; sister: Nicole Kelley; and numerous cousins, nieces, and nephews.


He was preceded in death by his parents; second mother, Arlene “Tiny” Kelley; grandson: Christopher; and three sisters: Kathy, Deanna and Sonya.


A visitation will be held between 10 to 11 a.m. Wednesday, Dec. 20, at Trinity Lutheran Church with funeral services and luncheon to follow. Inurnment will be private.


In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Trinity Lutheran Church or Hospice of the Ozarks.
Arrangements are under the care of Roller Funeral Home.
