ALPENA — Glenn D. Olson, 87, of Alpena, passed away Wednesday, December 20, 2023, at the Huron Regional Medical Center.

His funeral service will be held 11 a.m. Wednesday, Dec. 27, at Kuhler Funeral Home. Burial will follow in Restlawn Memory Gardens Cemetery. His service will be livestreamed.

His visitation will be held one hour prior to the service at the funeral home on Wednesday.

Glenn “Ole” D. Olson was born Sept. 12, 1936, to Gehard and Mary (Madsen) Olson at Storla. He attended school at Alpena and graduated from Alpena High School. After high school, Glenn lived in Huron, then Mitchell, before moving back to the farm to take care of his father.

He worked with the South Dakota Department of Transportation, and served as a Senior Transportation Technician for many years until his retirement in 1996.

On Sept. 10, 1969, Glenn married Loretta Hofer Jenson at Wolsey. They later divorced.

Glenn enjoyed hunting, fishing and cooking. He liked to share his cooking with his family by frying walleye or making homemade ice cream. He also enjoyed roller skating in his younger years and always looked forward to attending the state fair. He often talked about going to the park with his great-granddaughter, Kori, when she was younger where they shared “Laffy Taffy” and drank “Bug Juice” which she, of course, picked out for him. He was an avid fan of the Minnesota Twins and Vikings. In Glenn’s last few years of life when he moved off the farm, he looked forward to visits and phone calls from family and friends. He especially enjoyed his granddaughter, Jennifer, taking him lunch, Werther’s candy, cookies, small candy bars, and Diet Pepsi!

He was preceded in death by his parents; one sister, Ila Mae Neises; two sons, Randy Jenson and Earl Jenson; and two nieces, Diane and Gloria.

Survivors include his close friend, Loretta Olson of Huron; one son, Regg (Jodi) Jenson of Redfield; fifteen grandchildren, Maria, Brandon, RJ, Kali, Jacob, Jennifer, Wayne, Lesley, Ashley, Sarah, William, Tara, Tiffany, Nathan and Shyanne; many great-grandchildren; and six nieces, Theresa, Janet, Valerie, Mary, Donna and Linda.
