QUEEN CREEK, Ariz. — Judy Lynne Schmitt, 66, of Queen Creek, Ariz., formerly of Huron, was called to Heaven on Saturday, December 9, 2023, surrounded by her loving family.

Her celebration of life will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, Dec. 22, at Gilbert Memorial Funeral Home in Gilbert, Ariz.

Judy Schmitt was born in Aberdeen on Aug. 23, 1957, to parents Don and Eunice Weismantel. She grew up with her older brother, Don and younger sisters, Bonnie and Robin.

In 1977, Judy met the love of her life, Doug Schmitt and they were married later that year. They remained the best part of each other’s lives for 46 years. During that time, they made their home in Huron, soon welcoming two children. In 1978, their daughter, Amanda Lynne was born followed by their son, Ryan Douglas in 1983.

During Judy’s career, she worked at Lewis Drug, Farm Bureau Insurance, and was an administrative assistant at the Huron Public Schools. In 2004, she and Doug purchased Wheeler’s Business Products where she assumed the position of President and CEO. In 2005, they purchased Business Products Inc in Mitchell.

In 2014, Judy and Doug moved to Rathdrum, Idaho to be closer to their children and grandchildren. She loved spending time with family and watching her horses and turkeys from her porch. She adored family meals and holidays. Her love for her children and grandchildren was unconditional.
Judy and Doug ventured to Queen Creek, Ariz., in 2022 following the family she dearly loved. She closed her final chapter, surrounded by her children and grandchildren. She will always be remembered for her warm heart and loving disposition.

Judy was the most loving and devoted wife, mother, and Nana. She is survived by her husband, Doug Schmitt of Queen Creek, Ariz.; daughter, Mandy (and Jeremy) Meltebarger of Mesa, Ariz.; son, Ryan (and Breanna) Schmitt of Gilbert, Ariz.; and four grandchildren, Jaycey, Hailey, and Kyleya Meltebarger and Jackson Schmitt.
